H pylori stool test ‘equivocal’ result - what does that mean?

Does it mean there was some H Pylori but low level in terms of range?

clearly it doesn’t mean negative, or it would be ‘negative’?

been plagued with stomach ulcer symptoms for years, this is the first time the GP has researched and tested for H Pylori.

the notes online say repeat the test which I will do, but I can’t speak to the HCP who I’m dealing with till tomorrow as she doesn’t work Mondays and I was wondering what this equivocal range actually means in the meantime, if anyone else knows?

Mine was never detected in stool - only on endoscopy. I had duodenitis too.

Thanks @Goatymum - if this comes back as negative when I do the sample a second time I’ll be asking to invoke my bupa cover and speak to a gastroenterologist.

I’ve got classic symptoms of a duodenal ulcer. It’s better immediately after eating, then 1.5-2 hours later the pain starts. It’s better taking a PPI but that’s just managing the pain by reducing the acid, it’s not actually sorting out WHY I keep getting them. Plus I can’t take the PPI for a few days before the sample. I’ve never taken NSAIDs (other than the random odd dose) so there MUST be a reason this keeps recurring.

I can only assume that equivocal doesn’t mean negative, but it’s not there in the levels required to give a positive result?
