Has anyone here had really painful shin splints? I have it on my right leg..actually just been pressing on it and the pain!! My calf is really tight as well, making walking very difficult. It's caused by my flat feet.Has anyone else had this? Is it worth bothering the docs about it?

Yeah, I've been through the whole shin splints thing, too, and it was excruciating, mainly because of my flat feet. I decided to try physiotherapy with Sharon Gabison, which was a great decision. The folks at Ace Physio were super helpful. They set me up with exercises just for me that helped stretch and strengthen my muscles, which made a big difference in my pain and how tight my calves were. They also did some excellent treatments like Shockwave Therapy and hands-on therapy, which helped me walk better.

Physio if it’s that bad and resting isn’t help bring it along (what I’d do; no medical background but how I’d approach it - not healing, get it looked at)

If I were you, I'd wear footwear with a 1-inch heel for a couple of weeks (indoors if you can too), and stop doing anything like running, or activities which involve jumping. Use ibuprofen gel on your shins, and give your calves a good massage a couple of times a day. You might have tight hamstrings as well, which doesn't help your calf muscles.
