Microscopic blood in urine - worried

Went to see GP for longstanding pelvic floor issues, she sent off a urine test as a matter of routine and it came back with microscopic red blood cells: repeated the test a week later and the same thing.

No UTI symptoms or markers in the test so it’s not that. Waiting for referral to urology for further testing but does anyone have any reassuring experiences of this not being anything serious? I have health anxiety so of course thinking the worst :(

Hello, I had the exact same thing in 2017. Went to GP with pelvic pain. Microscopic blood found in 2 samples. I was referred under 2 week pathway. I had ultrasound and cystocopy done - all clear and got results same day. Urine sample on that day was clear. I thought the worst too. I never did get an explanation. My husband had an occurrence of visible blood in urine twice, referred for same tests and all clear. They told him it was likely dehydration. Good luck

Every single urine test I've had has shown blood in it but never any reason.

I almost always have microscopic blood in my urine. I had a 2WW referral for USS and cystoscopy and all was fine

I have had similar. Was fevered for ultrasound and cytoscopy. Turns out I have kidney stones.

Refered. not fevered!9

Ah thank you all. Good to hear some positive outcomes. Still waiting for referral, not sure whether it will be treated as urgent or not.

I always have traces of blood in my urine OP. GP insisted on referring me, I had cystoscope procedure, camera in the bladder, all was fine. Consultant said some patients kidneys leak a few blood cells, but it was nothing to worry about. Try not to worry too much, wishing you a good outcome Flowers

I have this right now and GP isn’t particularly interested. I was told if I have two repeat tests with same I am referred and there is a year wait list…..I’m Scotland so health system is broken

Same. I had four tests last year and they all had blood. The first two times the medical staff were freaking out, before I was eventually told it's very common and not something to worry about.
