Bleeding through a moon cup and ultra pad each night

How can I stop my flow being so heavy? For the first two days of my period, I can keep on top of it with a moon cup and pad, but by the third day, unless I set an alarm for 3-4 hours into my sleep schedule I bleed through my mooncup, an ultra pad and my pyjamas onto the bedding. This lasts for 2-3 nights. The period usually lasts about 10 days and then I have 2 weeks off before it starts again.

I was on medication that caused my prolactin levels to be so high that my periods stopped, and now they have returned they are just crazy! I am a bit nervous about going onto contraception (I am not sexually active, and have no intention of becoming so) as last time I was on it it played havoc with me emotionally and I became like a rage monster, but the cramps and constant anxiety about bleeding through my clothes when I sit down anywhere are annoying.

@AdamRyan thank you! I had no idea that there were different capacity cups! I bought my mooncup in Boots years ago and then just replaced it when it got a bit yucky. I think investing in some period pants is a very good idea too. Thank you so much! I also had no idea about the ibuprofen trick!

I had similar. I've been taking mefenamic acid and tranexamic acid (both on prescription) for years now and if I time it so I take them both just before bed that gets me through the night just about. I use a moon cup (have tried higher capacity brands but too uncomfortable) with heavy flow period pants (I use cheeky pants) with a booster pad in (again from cheeky) and that combination of the pills, moon cup, pad and booster lasts overnight.
