Recurring coldsores in 3.9 yrs DS

My Ds (3.9yrs) first got a cold sore about a year ago on his cheek which the GP said was quite a common place to get one. Since then he's had about 4 or 5 on his lip (not all at once but throughout the year). He's got another now and I'm wondering if anyone knows what could cause so many coldsores in a young child. He's otherwise very healthy but does not have a fantastic diet. He eats fruit but no veg.... But I do give him vitamins...

Any advise???

Its just a case of discovering what his trigger is, I'm afraid. DD has had them since she was about 4 too and I have discovered she always gets them after she has had a cold or she is run down. A friend of mine who had them all her life, discovered it was citric fruit. She used to eat satsumas all the time. She stopped and the cold sores stopped too.

Sorry I can't be much more help, but I have found that DD gets much less now, than she did when she was little. They can stop getting them and they will learn to recognise the 'tingle' as they get older.

HTH anyway

Thanks Maureen! I'll be a bit more aware what is going on when they come and see what could be happening. It could be just before he gets a cold as that is the case at the moment. Thanks again
