spotty rash not responding to nappy cream - could it be fungal?

my dd (18mo) has a rash on her bits that is like lots of tiny pinprick red spots. she's had it about 3 days, despite putting on bepanthen cream at every change. the bepanthen normally clears up rashes overnight; might this one be fungal? if so, can i use canesten cream on it or should i get it looked at?
TIA

Canestan should do the trick. You could just take her to the HV, they might prescribe Fucidin.

Thank you for your advice- sounds like it may be fungal then. won't be able to take her to the HV till saturday because of work but will try the canesten if its still looking bad in the morning. thanks again.

DD had similar problem and nappy creams just seemed to make it worse. Was prescribed Fucidin which cleared it up in a few days.

do you know if i can i get fucidin over the counter? we have to pay for the doctors so would rather not a trip unless i really need to!
