I had weak hands while pg with ds (he is now 3) and lately they have got worse, doctor says I have Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. Just wanted to know if anyone else has any experience of this?

I had it when pg with dd2.

Cleared up as soon as she was born though and it never came back.

So probably not much help.

Dp's sister had it completely unrelated to pgy, and she needed an op on the palm of her hand.

Am thinking it could be being on the keyboard! lol. Trying to type with one hand.

NNNNNnnnnooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

then it would be repetetive posting injury and we all might get it!

yes you can get special splints to wear and even an operation

sympathies is very painful

MehgaLegs · 18/03/2008 15:57

I must make an appointment with GP as I think I have this. My hands go totally numb within minutes of me going to bed. When I wake up i have to shake them around to get the feeling back.

I also have weak hands and drop stuff.

From googling think it might be CTS

I have been wearing a splint on my hand at night and for work. I am a window dresser so finding it hard to do fiddly jobs like doing up buttons etc.
I have trouble opening jars too.
It can be painful but more annoying than anything!
Mehgalegs - sounds like it to me!

Doctor told me that it can come and go and that if it got much worse they can give me an injection _ nice!

Mine doesn't really hurt although about a year ago I had some severe wrist pain.

Now just a feeling of weakness

mumfor1standfinaltime · 18/03/2008 16:08

Mine has only just started to hurt, was out the other day holding ds hand and my nieces hand, for some reason it made it worse, think I am not used to controlling x2 3 year olds!

Hope you don't need the injection. My HV had an op on both her wrists but she is older and had had it a long time.

I think typing is good for it, keeps fingers supple

mumfor1standfinaltime · 19/03/2008 08:50

Lol at typing being good for it! If only! It seems to be better than it was so hopefully it will ease off.
