Minor injuries? I have a minor injury

Came off my bike 10 days ago. I had a lot of grazing but that's all healing. However - I still have a sore knee where I landed. Not so sore I can't walk but sore enough to be noticeable even when not moving. And my other leg has a massive bruise (not worried about that) and a big hard lump under the skin - maybe 10cm or so long. It's the lump that is concerning me. I didn't touch that leg while it was still sore so have only really just noticed but now I can see it under the skin even when I don't touch it. Can't think how I missed it.
So, does this warrant NHS time or do I just assume it's all going to go away?

id be inclined to pop to the Gp, however if the appointment is weeks away and you can spare time I’d go to minor injuries to be checked over

Can't see myself getting a GP appt any time soon! Can sit in minor injuries and do some work, I guess

Our minor injuries unit won’t see you if the injury occurred more than a certain time ago, from memory I think it’s 48 hours.

The big lump is likely a Hematoma, when I was 16 I fell off a moped onto the corner of a brick, had an absolutely massive goose egg style bruise that covered my whole thigh, it reduced in size a lot but didn't ever fully go away and at 40 I still have a solid lump about the size of a golf ball.

The knee could be a host of things, most likely would be a muscle or ligament injury from twisting or pulling in the wrong direction. Have you been Resting, elevating and icing it?

Not sure if ours has a cut off but don't think it's 48 hours, as DD was there after 72 recently with a fracture.

Yes that does sound as if it is the problem. Thanks; that is helpful to know. Does it cause any problems?

I rested the first few days, ice etc. Not so much now, probably a mistake!

Suns slime a heamatoma, minor injuries / walk in won't have any treatment for it

FlabMonsterIsDietingAgain · 12/01/2024 06:23

Causes no problems at all, I can feel it if I run my hand over the area but it's not visible and causes no pain or anything it's just a lump.
