Day three of excruciating back pain

Is this normal? I woke up three days ago in excruciating pain from my neck and upper back, I think brought on by doing something too strenuously and then sleeping in a funny position. Three days later and I still can’t even be upright. I went to an and e and they said by looking at it that it’s not a disc. Also had an osteopath appointment which has made it looser but more painful.

is this normal just for a back sprain? I have a three year old and am dreading the weekend as I just won’t be able to look after him in this state

Yes I think I did or twisted something last Tuesday after a new routine, sure it was by Saturday I started to recover after plenty of Voltarol cream!

Hope it improves for you soon.

See if you can get some muscle relaxants from the GP and take them before bed in combination with ibuprofen. It might help loosen things up as you sleep. I wouldnt take them in the day as they can make you v drowsy /out of it and the 3 yr old might decide to run rings round you!

What did the osteopath say? A serious issue would take more than one appointment to treat.

I have had various back issues on and off for years and I use chiropractors. I know a lot of people are very wary of them but I have had nothing but good results.

I’m 2.5 weeks into a back injury which I’ve been told is muscular and will heal. It’s scary how long it takes to get better. The key with your back is to medicate so you can move apparently!
