Really weird one!

Did some garden clearance over the weekend and have three random symptoms.

  1. Have a very painful hamstring yesterday and today. Fine, figure I've knocked something with the lifting/pulling.

  2. Had a weird itching sensation yesterday after being in the garden and a bright red ankle. Figured I'd bumped into some nettles and so took an antihistamine and put some germolene on. Took it away within 30 mins but DP pointed out today that I had wellies on so my ankle wouldn't have been out?

  3. I had a 12 hour sleep last night and still struggled to get up this morning. Since about lunch time, I've been dizzy. The room isn't spinning exactly but I feel nauseous and have a heavy head. Even lying down, I feel dizzy. No temperature, hearing is fine and my blood pressure is 110/70.

I take vitamin d, b and magnesium but completely healthy.

My DP was worrying I'd breathed in some of the pesticide fumes or something but I reckon it's just a coincidence that the three things have happened at once.

What do you think? And anyone else had the dizziness thing?

Were there any pesticide fumes around?

Camorra · 08/01/2024 22:29

Weedkiller and moss killer being used in close proximity but all done outside in the fresh air (ofc)

Which antihistamine was it?

Camorra · 08/01/2024 22:40

Just a supermarket bought one called allacon.

Cetirizine hydrochloride

It can cause drowsiness, dizziness etc. even though it’s ’non-sedating’. Maybe that explains the sleep

Camorra · 08/01/2024 22:48

Ah thank you @Greybeardy - I didn't have the box. That helps.

Hopefully it wears off soon if it is down to those. I've had to put my book down and I'm struggling with seeing this screen properly with the dizziness!

It’d be a bit odd for it still to be causing symptoms now though if you took it yesterday.

Camorra · 08/01/2024 22:57

Hmm. I took it about 7pm yesterday

Sometimes when I take antihistamines, I get really bad muscle pains - it's hard to explain, doesn't feel the same as a sports injury or fatigue but kind of a cramping? It's all over my body, though. I've done some light googling but gave up after I didn't find anything convincing immediately...

OhMyChickenDinner · 08/01/2024 23:34

Do you get false widow spiders in your area? Could be a bite?

Camorra · 09/01/2024 09:15

Thanks everyone. Another, basically 9.5 hours sleep and my head still feels funny.

Don't think black widow spiders are an issue here but will do a check in the shower!

Interesting to know on antihistamines- thank you! I'm pretty sure I just overused that one muscle but DP has got me a little worried now.

I'm never ill so probably overreacting!
