Chances of cancer returning

My mother was diagnosed with bowel cancer in October 2022. It was a big tumour but it hadn’t spread and was removed with no need for radiotherapy/chemo. She has had various consultants appointments since as well as a couple of scans and all were really good news.

Mum lost over half a stone in two weeks a month or so ago, various stressful situations could be to blame, but the GP organised blood tests and a scan which were over a month ago now. She has a consultants appointment next week re the results. The appointment was made with him at the same time as the scan and blood test so prior to any results being known. No one has called with any results, would they have done if it was bad news? Based on last time everything was moved along very quickly when they knew it was cancer. Would the gp/consultant have called if it was bad news or would they wait the month until she sees the consultant?

I know this FIT test was negative whereas the last one was positive when she found out she has cancer. Even though the FIT was negative I’m worrying the cancer has returned elsewhere.

With so much going on over Christmas and New Year i managed to distract myself but now my mind has gone into overdrive.

i know no one can know whats what but i wondered what others experiences were.

Thank you.
