Hi,

Just wanted to share my experience and see if anyone else has currently or previously had something similar.

28yo f, Baby born almost 1 year ago now, currently BF. Delivery was emergency C-section under general anaesthetic, had postpartum haemorrhage and retained placenta.

I had hypothyroid and diabetes before pregnancy but was otherwise fit and well. Since delivery I feel like I’ve been left with a whole bunch of health problems, heart palpitations, gut issues and just overall horrible fatigue. I’ve been to the doctor and all blood tests are within normal range and they can’t find any issues but I just feel awful and generally unwell.

Just wondering if anyone else feels the same so long after giving birth still……

What are your ferritin levels? Normal doesn’t mean optimum.

the haemorrhage and breastfeeding screams iron deficiency to me.

I came to say ferritin too.

Get a print out of all your blood results and look up what the optimal levels are rather than the threshold for treatment. Ferritin is deemed a problem under 30 but optimal is 125.

My son was born 18 months ago. I've had a whole 18 months of being poorly and feeling like crap, tiredness, muscle and.jlint pains, dizziness, light headedness, nausea, palpitations. I did have low ferratin which has since improved but my symptoms remain, I've had all sorts of tests and they can't anything serious. My GP is now suspecting fibromyalgia. Apparently it can be triggered by childbirth, trauma etc. Worth looking into to? Do you suffer with anxiety? I have terrible anxiety and pure OCD and I find my symptoms are worse when I'm particularly anxious.
