Radiating Chest Pains - should I be worried?

So a few times over the past few months, immediately after waking (whilst still lying down) I get awful pressure/pain in my chest, which then radiates to my back, up my neck and into my ears - sometimes arms. It last for a few minutes.

This morning however, it’s what woke me from sleep. I then have a full sensation in my lower throat, above collar bones for rest of the day.

Have night sweats too.

Strong family history of heart attack/aneurysms/blockages etc.

I have no idea what heartburn/indigestion feels like, but have looked it up. Does this sound like just that or more.

Im early 40s, stressful lifestyle!

Am I overreacting to get a phone appointment with GP tomorrow?

Thanks!

I think I would if I was you, just for peace of mind

Yes definitely! To be honest you wouldn’t be unreasonable to go to A&E.

Yes, yes she would. A&E is not for symptoms that have been ongoing for a few months.

OP, yeah, GP for sure. I've never experienced heartburn radiating down my arms. Does it feel muscular, like tightness, or does it feel 'deeper'?

Blossom4538 · 04/01/2024 17:32

It feels deeper I think

Yeah, my Grandad had chest pains once, he waited and went to his GP.

He ended up having a quadruple bypass but it wasn't an emergency because it has happened before.

/s 🙄

OP, if this happens again, immediately go to A&E. No one will turn you away with symptoms like that, no matter if they've happened before.

In the meantime try to get a GP tomorrow.

Can you feel heartburn/indigestion in back and side of next and ears a painful with pressure?

Oh, and I know another person who had "muscular" shoulder pain.

He didn't go to A&E either, because it was muscular. Right?

He died of that heart attack.

Don't muck around with chest pain.

Hopefully it won't be anything dramatic, but it absolutely could be. And we can't tell by reading a post on the internet.

That's exactly how I get indigestion. NO IDEA why we can feel it our ears 🤷‍♀️

Please go to A&E

I had a severe case of costochondritis exactly as you described at the same time as a shoulder impingement. If I pressed on my breast bone sternum th pain was horrendous, but also had it up to my collarbone and down my arms. It was agony. I still get it now lingering from time to time.
