A Potted history of a long winded situation.
10.5 weeks ago I developed a UTI. It had travelled to my kidneys and was diagnosed as pyelonephritis, (Kidney infection) ' given a week of antibiotics. Seemed to clear up.
Few days later it was back GP gave a fortnight of a different antibiotics. Cleared up.
A few days later It returned again and GP gave another fortnight of the same antibiotic.
Same story again got so bad. I ended up in A&E who admitted me and gave me a 3 days. IV of 2 different antibiotics. Send me home.

5 days later told me a culture had grown and told the GP which antibiotics to prescribe. cleared up, 5 days later, (Christmas eve) come back with a vengeance high fever. Vomiting, severe kidney and abdominal pain burning wee.
GP sent me to A&E and told me to ask to see the urologist. They refused, seemed to think I was either inventing it or had a muscle strain ( despite urine having grown cultures and positive dipsticks)and sent me home. ( they had previously done kidney CT and internal ultrasound)

They seem to think this isn't a kidney or urine infection. Does anyone have any suggestions where to go from here? After 10.5weeks, I feel completely depleted. Run down and at a loss. Please help me. I'll take any ideas or suggestions at this point.
I AM A DESPERSTE WOMAN!!

T hanks for reading if you got here.

Does increasing your water intake to 2.5 litres a day help at all?

Go back to your GP op, Mumsnet is not the place for medical advice. Your GP should have referred you instead of sending you to A&E, make an appointment first thing in the morning.

Can you see a private urologist? That is what I would do. I feel that the NHS are failing fast. I’d go private at least for one consultation.

Ask for a referral - this is ridiculous

I think your GP was trying to get you seen faster by urology but if ED won't refer you, GP will need to

Painintheback · 30/12/2023 03:55

Gp said it would take ages for ever-changing an urgent urology referral especially with the new year break hence the ED visit. TheI Dr was a ridiculous.
Booked the soonest private appointment i could get but it's not until the 7th of Jan which feels like an eternity when I'm in agony and no painkillers are cutting it. I'm wide awake because if the pain. I just don't know what on earth can be causing something this painful and making me so swollen i literally am the same size I was when I was 4.5- 5 months pregnant.. ugh.

If you are in this much pain now, go back to the ED
Go now, it won't be quiet but it won't get any quieter
You don't need to be left in pain
