DH - hip replacement, can you play spots/squash?

Hi there,
My DH is having his hip replaced next week but he's really anxious about it. He's very sporty (as in, plays tennis most days and squash a few times a week too) and he basically has the same injury that Andy Murray had! Anyway, he has been told he'll still be able to play tennis (but can he play singles?) - he's now v anxious that he won't be able to play squash again.
He has to get it done within the next few years as he's in pain with it (particularly after sports) - but also, sport is his passion.
He wants reassurance that he will be able to still play tennis/squash. He's not limping and could put up with the pain for a few more years, maybe, with strong daily painkillers, so otherwise he's considering putting it off...
Any thoughts, anyone?
Thank you :)

yes!
but he needs to do physio before & of course after.
recovery can take a good few weeks/couple of months though.

Weell if he doesn't get it done, he definitely won't be playing tennis or squash.

Maybe better to ask his consultant....
Having said that, I know someone with a hip replacement, she lives a normal life. Although not a very sporty one if you exclude swimming & hiking.

I have a friend who is a keen tennis player (club level) and is waiting for a hip replacement. They have several friends at their club who have had the op and successfully continued with tennis. In fact their doctor recommended they have it done as early as possible (waiting lists permitting) as if you wait until you can't bear it any longer, you tend to have lost a lot of fitness and muscle mass, and the outcome tends to be less good

I had a hip replacement two weeks ago. My timelines booklet says doubles after 5 months, singles not before 6 months assuming recovery has gone to plan.
