Unbearable pain - is there anything else I can try?

I am in the worst pain I've ever experienced. My dc has complex disabilities and sometimes thrashes around uncontrollably, before Christmas during one of these spells I got quite a powerful headbut to the face. Long story short, it knocked some teeth loose and caused an abscess. I've been on antibiotics and started a second course today. The dentist has booked me in for what will either be root canals in the affected teeth or extractions on Friday.

I've been prescribed zapain (strong cocodamol) but it's barely making a difference to the pain. Is there anything o/c or home remedy type thing anyone can recommend that might numb this? I'm struggling tbh it's hurts for the wind to touch my face, to eat, to do literally anything 😭

I'm not looking forward to potentially having no front teeth but right now I feel like pulling them out myself!

Ibuprofen
clove oil, applied carefully to the tooth only.
Dental pain can be agony, best of luck to you

Orajel max strength (ask the pharmacist for it as it's OTC) but check it's ok with the co-codomol first. You poor love, sounds awful Sad

Ibuprofen max strength- you may need omeprazole to go with it as it can upset your stomach

Try some anbesol from the pharmacy. I used it when my babies were teething and for my own dental issues. The liquid form is much better than the gel if you can get it. Nothing else compares.

Thank you for the suggestions! I got some oragel and managed to numb my lips and tongue as well 😄 It's done the trick though and stopped me reaching for the pliers!
