trapped nerve

3NAB · 16/03/2008 12:25

It doesn't hurt. Just annoying, especially when it came on when I was pouring boiling water from the kettle. It isn't there constantly.

Is it your Texting Thumb?

3NAB · 16/03/2008 12:36

I haven't been texting today, not on here a lot. It feels so weird.

I've had that recently too, in my thumb and fingers of my left hand. Prior to that I notice if I stretched down to pick something off the floor I was getting a similar feeling shoot down the inside of my left arm. That's gone and now I have the finger thing.

I was wondering if it was due to carrying my overly heavy handbag on my shoulder and trapping a nerve.

lucyellensmum · 16/03/2008 12:53

I used to have this too, my job involved using tweezers to do the most minute and ridiculous task for hours on end. I would find that the tingling would come after a rest from it. I still get it occasionally, have even been to the doctors who reassured me that it is nothing to worry about. I find it happens more when i have been mumsnetting too much - um, so that would be all the time then

3NAB · 17/03/2008 08:05

Still the same today. Comes on at random times. I am not really that fussed, just concerned incase it is a sign of something bad.

carpal tunnel (sp?) syndrome?

3NAB · 17/03/2008 12:17

How would I know and what would I have to do?

I was going to nip in to Boots to ask there but the queue was really long and I just wanted to get DS2 home.

it could be Carpal tunnel syndrome which effects the thumb forefinger and middle finger.is there a numbness with it? you can get wrist splints to help

if it is just your thumbs it could be trigger thumb here

3NAB · 17/03/2008 12:47

It isn't numb. It just tingles at times.
