Hi all, just wondering if anyone had any experience with a felon finger which didn’t have a abscess? I’ve been on antibiotics for a week (course finished) and the pain and swelling has reduced but this is the second flare up so I’m struggling to understand if it’s helped. It happened about 6 months ago and my finger remained inflamed somewhat but it wasn’t painful or sore so I didn’t seek and medical advice at that stage. Second flare up was about 3 weeks ago and subsequent Diagnosis for felon finger as it was more painful and tender. What I’d like to know how long after the antibiotics did it clear up for anyone? I’m not sure whether they’ve worked at this stage? Spoken to GP and waiting for referral to hand specialist for second opinion but if anyone could shed any light on this from a practical perspective would be highly appreciated.
