Tinnitus

I'm really suffering with tinnitus at the moment and wanted to hear other people's experiences of it. I've had my ear wax microsuctioned, I'm on antibiotics for an ear infection but I feel like this tinnitus is separate. I'm due to have a hearing test once the antibiotics are finished.

What is your tinnitus like? Mine is like the hum of a boiler when the heating is on. It is very loud at night, waking me up. My hearing is muffled because of it. If I clench my teeth, I get awful whistling tinnitus too. Anyone else?

I'm wondering if it's linked to perimenopause. I'm 46, healthy with no other health issues. My BP is fine. But my periods have been going haywire the last few months and I've been quite emotional when they do arrive.

Thanks.

I'd say the tinnitus is the same, but i notice it less because my other symptoms are less. I'm not constantly thinking about my hearing/ears now as I'm not in discomfort. It's a vicious cycle, but my medication has put a stop to it. I have some high frequency hearing loss, but nothing bad enough to need hearing aids.

Hope you get some answers soon.
