Do you need to worry about bony lumps on a baby's head?

Ds2 has a little bony bump on the back of his head, I noticed it a week or two ago - it's very hard and doesn't seem to bother him. It isn't really obvious to look at, doesn't stick out etc but you can feel it distinctively. It's about 2cm round I guess.

Do they all have these? If so...why!?

TIA

is it low down near the neck where you have a couple of bones that stick out? There are a pair of glands there that can react to all sorts of things (mine comes up with my psoriasis sometimes). Might be worth mentioning to doctor at some point.

Oh thankyou, yes it is quite near the nape of the neck - only on one side though. I thought about glands, but it feels too hard iyswim...I'll see if it is still there over the next few days.

ds has one on the top of his head. doc said it happens when the bones fuse early sometimes.

Is it on the edge of the hard bit of the skull just before it turns into the neck and towards the ears glands being lower on the neck but in roughly the same vertical line? (sorry for the terrible medical description) If so, my DD had this and the Dr said it was perfectly normal and blah blah blah. Did give us the medical names which I've subsequently forgotten but said that his still stick out! Anyway, if you're worried then do ask the Dr next time you're there.
