Hello my son has sent me this message, I don’t want to waste minor injurie/A&Es time, does this warrant a
visit? Soo had very small infection in his finger on Friday, prescribed antibiotics by GP
however over weekend it’s got bigger and looks more angry and blistery!
ive attached a photo! Is this just the antibiotics working? 🤷‍♀️

Hi, I will say first and foremost I'm a sporner. Great he has the ABs. But I would be sterilising a needle and getting the infection out by popping it. It will be much less sore after the pressure has gone.
Is he also a bit run down? Last time I had one of those was just after giving birth and midwife said being run down can impact on your ability to fight it.

Pop the blister. Everything will be better almost instantly.

ditalini · 10/12/2023 12:45

Mmm... I'm also a sporner, frequently get cuticle infections due to not being able to leave a hangnail be, and would definitely have been at that way before it got to that point, but mine haven't ever been that colour.

I think a trip to minor injuries wouldn't be a waste of anyone's time.

NorthCliffs · 10/12/2023 12:53

He doesn't need Minor Injuries, he's already seen a doctor and been prescribed AB. Just pop the thing and keep it clean!

Send a picture 😀

Thanks all, he did end up
going to Munro injuries off his own back! He’s 19 they actually scolded him and told him he shouldn’t have left it so long, as it had gotten so much worse while
on antibiotics 🤦‍♀️ she drew the infection out with a needle, scraped the dead skin and bandaged it up! All sorted! He said he felt instant relief and is now pain free!

That's a good outcome for him. (Next time bypass minor injuries with a sterile needle!! Lol.)
