Anyone had a tibial plateau fracture?

The pain started about six weeks after a fall. OK for four days and then the pain started. Couldn't put my foot to the ground. Saw an orthopaedic surgeon who looked at xrays and confirmed the diagnosis. He ordered a CT and I saw him with the results yesterday. Felt really confident, had lost the pain, not wearing the hinged knee brace only to be told that the CT showed a depressed fracture. Now wearing the brace all day, only allowed 20 minutes walking exercise, doing physio exercises on line, told if I have a fall it may break and its straight down to A&E which I'm desperate to avoid I know its only just under six weeks. Anyone else able to give me their experiences. The consultant said that if he'd seen the CT at the first consultation he may have considered surgery so hopefully I might get away with that.

Hi. Yes, I have. But mine was a result of a skiing accident and I was operated on pretty much immediately. It is not a nice injury and you are right to be cautious. However, there is a huge range of outcomes and loads of people go back to living their normal lives. I have to say - I wish I could have avoided surgery, if only because the lingering problems relate more to nerve damage from
the incision than the injury itself.
