When to see a doctor with a hacking cough?

I have an awful hacking cough with violent coughing fits (where I struggle to stop coughing) but am well otherwise when not having a coughing fit. Have had it for a few days now - it’s the tail end of one of my daughters nursery bugs. Is it worth seeing a doctor or do I just wait it out? I think the later is the only option but DH thinks I should see the GP.

The advice is to see a Dr if you've had a persistent cough for more than two weeks.

Sorry to hear this I have had exactly the same I went to see the GP after 2 weeks and it was getting worse mine had become a lower respiratory infection and now on antibiotics.

Keep drinking warm fluids fruit teas etc it definitely helps ease it a bit/makes it easier for your chest
