Can't keep anything in and i'm feeling really faint

I gave blood yesterday but within only a few hours I started having the worst ever stomach cramps (and runs) and they've not stopped. I am now starting to feel really quite faint. I am taking sips of water but even that is causing more cramps.

The worst part is the blood has had to be thrown!

Poor you . I'm sure the blood taking and bug you seem to have are not related, not that that's going to make you feel better LOL. Take it easy hun, you body needs to have a clear out. Go to bed, try and get some sleep and try the water again in the morning.

Nothing useful to add but I have had dreadful stomach cramps and runs for two days, today I've felt light headed and "spacey", presume its a bug, probably not related to blood taking.

callmewhatyoulike · 13/03/2008 22:06

Oh sorry I didn't mean to imply it had caused it, i'm sure it's a coincidence. It's just that i bet having lost 10% of my blood really hasn't helped how light headed I feel.

I think going to bed is a good plan. I just hope this thing allows me to sleep tonight!

Aww, sleep well, I'm starting to feel better finally, hope you do.

I'm glad you're feeling better. Today i'm feeling even worse. Stomach is really hurting, runs continuing despite only sipping water, my head hurts and I feel really quite sick now too.

Presumably you're meant to leave it a good few days before you see your gp?

Thanks x

Well i've spent virtually all day in bed or on the sofa and i'm getting waves of agony. the runs seem to have stopped but by God it hurts. I have a temp now too.

I rang my doctor earlier and he just said to try some codeine too which dooesn't seem to have helped, yet.

At my workplace lots of people have it, it's bloody crippling isn't it! I'm getting better some people have been off work for a week, sorry!!

dippica · 14/03/2008 19:37

Sure its a bug and you just need to wait it out, but don't always ignore stomach cramps. I had crippling stomach cramps a few months ago, was very sick with them, and after much to-ing and fro-ing to A&E, it turned out to be a problem with my bowel which needed urgent surgery. This is not scare-mongering, just don't ignore the symptoms. Though I guess if you have the runs, there can't be a total blockage???

Hope you feel better soon.

dinny · 14/03/2008 19:38

yes, have had similar bug, and cou;dn't eat a thing!!

Haribosmum · 15/03/2008 08:52

But at the same time dippica makes a very valid point. I would be hoping you felt at least a BIT better now chick . Maybe you should get yourself checked out... I mean if you're in agony???
