Lumps in forehead wearing cycling helmet

This is totally bizarre and I haven't googled it because I know it's going to throw back something scary or strange.

Basically, I'm getting massive (3-4 cm) hard, raised lumps on my forehead where my cycling helmet contacts with the skin after wearing it for about an hour.

At first I thought they were spots but they're absolutely not, they're just big lumps that take three or four days to disappear.

They're so big you can even see them in photos!

They are painful to touch but not red.

The helmet has a bit of plastic inside that is contacting the skin and that is where the lumps form but this is a new phenomenon and the helmet is not that tight.

Any thoughts on this?

I suppose I'll have to buy a new helmet but why would this suddenly happen?

@madeinmanc my helmet has foam covering the plastic so the plastic bit doesn't have direct contact with my head. Could yours have come away changing the fit of the helmet?

Otherwise it might just be that you are getting a build up of sweat or dirt between the plastic and your skin that is causing the lumps particularly if the lumps are a bit like when you get the build up of a lump like you can under a spot without it coming out as a spot if you see what I mean.

That's odd. I agree, something must have rubbed off (or on!). How about trying a cycling cap under your helmet rather than buying a new helmet?
