So last night I took clarithromycin at 4pm- I have pneumonia, doctor called me and I said I took it at 4pm will I need to wait until tomorrow now to take it and she said no ideally I need 6 hours apart so take at 10/11pm - I took at 11:20pm and I've just googled (I know I shouldn't have) but it says under no circumstances should this be taken anything less than 8 hours!! I feel hideously sick and have an awful taste in my mouth. Have I overdosed? Sorry if this sounds irrational but I am worried now as google says never to take less than 8 hours and preferably 12!

Sounds really unpleasant nevertheless, and some professional advice would probably be a good idea.

I'm really so much worse😭 breathing and all I can hear is loud pitch noises, I feel like I'm barely breathing and I have such bad chest pain. Is this normal? I'm tempted to go hospital but idk if anti biotics would have kicked in as it's only been 24 hours

If i was you id talk to 111 _ / be seen in a n e

B4 taking anymore

I'm just hesitant because it hasn't been two days yet, when I had tonsilitis earlier this year with a raging temp it didn't get better until day 3 so I'm wondering whether I should wait it out, breathless but I do have pneumonia so I guess it's kinda normal?

I hope you feel better soon poor thing. I mustered the courage to have the last one today, knocked me sick too.

WiseUpJanetWeiss · 04/12/2023 17:44

It’s the chest pain, OP. Best to be seen by someone who knows what they are doing.

Goatymum · 04/12/2023 17:46

I had this for h pylori and the taste in the mouth thing is horrible, def a known side effect though.

Just checked my oxygen levels again and it's 93, it keeps going up and down... should I call 111 or just make my way to a&e?

Either. I don’t know your circumstances, or where you live.

But you have chest pain, your symptoms have worsened and your sats are up and down, which all points to needing actual qualified advice from a professional, not an internet randomer.

I get that but I've had these symptoms for days and I was diagnosed with pneumonia- I've contacted 111 anyway

Doc on phone said normal for oxygen levels to drop with a chest infection, I saw it go to 89 just now but did not feel like I was gasping for breath so doctor said it was probably a false reading but to keep an eye on my levels tonight and he would recommend a&e just to be on the safe side. He said I have no alarming symptoms like a fever or severe breathlessness (he said breathlessness is normal with what I have) he said he was more concerned about the 89 mark, also said can take up to 3 days before I feel better so not to worry about that

I don't think I need a&e as currently I am ok, I think my anxiety is definitely contributing to this, im going to wait it out
