My friend has found two lumps. One small and round and the other about the size of a golf ball but not round in shape. She went to the doctor's on tuesday and is waiting for hospital appointment.GP said they will do a scan and might do a needle biopsy, and if she waits at the hospital they may be able to tell her some results. She should be seen within two weeks.
Anybody know how likely it is of being cancer?I feel i need to do something but what?

Thank you i'll take a look.
I think i was hoping somebody would say it most likely isn't cancer, but i know nobody can say that.

Anybody know if the the lump is painful,is that good or bad.She said the larger lump which isn't round is painful.
I just want and need to help her and don't know what to do.

i have heard of people having what is called a chocolate cyst.Im not sure exactly what it is but i expect others will know ,lets hope it is something like this for your friend.

cmotdibbler · 13/03/2008 14:36

I'm afraid that until the tests are done, no one can know - painfulness isn't an indicator one way or the other really.

The best thing you can do is to just be there for her - lots of wine and chocolate and soppy movies to watch to try and keep occupied.

No-one can say either way, but she will hopefully be seen quickly and get answers. My friend was seen within 1 week, and had results and treatment very quickly. She said the waiting is the hardest part.

It sounds as though your friend may be going to an 'All in One' Breast Clinic. Here you get a mammogram, any biopsies and all the other basic tests, and they have the labs there so they can get the results quickly.

The breast care teams should be very kind and supportive.

I also found Breast Cancer Care very helpful.

Who will be going to her appointments with her? I went to the breast clinic with a gang! Me, dh, 2 dcs, and a lovely Homestart woman!

lisa6 · 13/03/2008 21:32

I'm not sure who will be going with her.Her dh has MS(wheelchair bound) and her DS is disable too.It won't be possible to take DS really(he is 8)it would be to boring.I know her DH will want to go but if it's bad news they may need somebody the drive.I didn't really think about that till you asked.I'll do what ever she thinks will help the most.I'll go with her if she wants me to,or have her ds for her.If i have her DS perhaps my DH will go to do the driving.I'll talk to her and see what she thinks.
Thanks for the info about the 'All in One' Breast Clinic. That sound like where she will be going.
