Bodypump exercise classes - whaddya reckon?

Now ds2 is at Kindy twice a week and I am forbidden to hang around outside the classroom pressing my bosom to the glass I need something to do with my time.

There's a Bodypump class on at the rec centre in the morning. I'm quite fit and OK at weights but hopeless at and quite frankly affronted by chirpy mass dance routines and "grapevines" and the like. I understand Bodypump is a syndicated thing and the same the whole world over.

Have you been? What's it like? Did it get rid of your jelly belly?

OI, I'm very happy for you, but my norkage prohibits running for more than 150 yards.

nonsense just wear 2 sports bras

Flier · 12/03/2008 13:35

oh well I thought the web site was quite handy to find out what exactly to expect from a class...............

suzywong · 12/03/2008 13:36

will cycling a Long Way Quite Fast not do the trick as well?

OP posts:
SheherazadetheGoat · 12/03/2008 13:37

no i used to cycle 16 miles (to worka nd back) which meant i was tolerably fit but did not touch the stomach area.

OrmIrian · 12/03/2008 13:38

You'll need an serious sports bra for bodypump anyway. Even mine has girders in and I've got teeny weeny ones now that I stopped bfing

SheherazadetheGoat · 12/03/2008 13:39

i would worry about bodypump giving me those strange veiny body builder boobs.

Oliveoil · 12/03/2008 13:39

Suz, do some circuit training man! You'll love it!

monkeytrousers · 13/03/2008 08:44

BTW, lol at pressing ample busom up againist nursery window - I have been so charged.

kiskideesameanoldmother · 13/03/2008 08:49

Love bodypump. I took it because i 'hate' aerobics routines and not just because i am uncoordinated.

you don't have to very fit at all to start. you build your fitness level up very gradually.

I did it till a week before having dd. by then, I was just lifting the empty bar. At my fittest I could do the squat routines with 20 kilos. (I only weigh 50 kilos myself)

One word of advice, after your first lesson, take a couple neurofens so that your muscles don't ache the following morning - too bad. And take another 2 straight after waking up.

Oh, I went down a dress size (from 10 to 8) but actually put on 2.5 kilos as I am skinny as they come. And it made me want rampant sex as everything tightened up!

kiskideesameanoldmother · 13/03/2008 08:53

Goatie, steriods give you those veiny boobs. bodypump won't. dh says it seems like one of the best exercises to remove lard and build muscle tone at the same time.

monkeytrousers · 13/03/2008 09:51

Steroids don't - minimum body fat does.

RGPargy · 13/03/2008 10:58

Bodypump ROCKS!!!

You should deffo go!

suzywong · 13/03/2008 13:27

I ot my times mixed up
I got to the rec centre and it was Bodystep

so I entered with trepidation. Cue vastly muscular instructor in 4 coasts of St Tropez skipping about the step with kicks and turns and other unspeakableness so I left after 10 minutes and went in to the gymnasium and did an hour of all sorts and booked a fitness assessment for next week.

Kiskikidee, you fox

OrmIrian · 13/03/2008 14:45

Oh dear.

Did they make you grapevine, suzy?

Sounds awful.

kiskideesameanoldmother · 13/03/2008 14:55

ah, but women don't get to that sort of minimum body fat without the steriods, afaik.

kiskideesameanoldmother · 13/03/2008 14:56

i take it i have sold it to you suzy?
