Many of you seem to have visited a cranial osteopaths for crying babies etc. Could you post your experiences here to inform PINNY - a colleague of mine who has a baby who seems to be in constant pain crying with repeated perforated eardrum. Looking for ways to help. Any other advice gratefully received.

Wasn't a miracle cure for ds2's colic but did seem to make a huge difference.

Was a bit sceptical the first visit - he didn't seem to do much, but after a day & night that was much worse (apparently often gets worse for 24 hrs after then better) we got a couple of good days, then slid back to usual colic.

After second visit, we got a few more good days before it slid back to usual.

Third visit we got a whole week that was fantastic.

Fourth visit was just a courtesy to check everything was still going well really.

Three to four visits seem like the standard amount needed. Ds2 was like a different baby afterwards - still tendency to colic but nowhere near as bad. From a baby that wouldn't sleep even in the car after 2 hours driving, wouldn't be soothed AT ALL - not by rocking, feeding or anything - gradually went to soothable by "bad habit" ways (dummy, feeding to sleep, rocking to sleep) to being able to sleep 50-75% of the time by himself by the end of the treatment. So yes, made a huge impact on our lives and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

YES!!! they've helped DS2 enormously he's a changed boy. He needed 4 or 5 visits.

Definitely, I took my dd at about 4 weeks for terrible colic and it disappeared after one session. We went for a further two sessions and by the end of it she was a really contented and placid baby (still is at 11 months)and we could not believe the difference it made- we were sceptical but desperate. I recommend them to every new parent!

We had amazing results with my dd's hearing through cranial osteopathy - homeopahty has also helped drain the ears on a longer term basis (so you don't need to keep on going back)- I'm a 110% believer!

I take dd to a c.o every month - she is autistic and it calms her down, brings her into our world for a short time. Took ds at 9 weeks for colic, and after 4 trips was a changed boy. Didn't work for his perforated eardrums, tho. Used homeopathy for a while, and then reverted to standard medicine - grommets, which have been fab.

I would say yes every time taken all three of mine to one and it has helped with glue ear. Sleeping and colic.

Have just found this thread - still taking me a while to get into the swing of exploring mumsnet! I feel much more determined now to explore this new avenue of craniosteopathy! Thanks again xx
