NCd as not ready to speak about it in RL.
Last week, the dermatology clinic (NHS) told me I have a suspected melanoma and it needs to removed so they booked me in as urgent. I was then told I will be waiting up to 10 weeks for a telephone call about making an appointment for this. So this leaves me thinking I need to get it done more quickly. Unfortunately I cannot find any availability privately (I am insured) until December/January! So my question is - is it really okay to be waiting 10+ weeks for it to be removed or do I carry on ringing round (the whole country) to see if I can find an earlier appointment? Thank you for anyone's insight, just a little worried atm.

I don't think that sounds acceptable but I suppose if they didn't think it could wait, they wouldn't wait?

I was in the same position as you. I would prioritise getting it removed and tested. For me it turned out to be negative but I am really glad I moved quickly.

Thanks for your replies - It is proving nearly impossible to get an appointment. I literally have not found one. Obviously as the NHS lists are so long a lot of people have taken the private route. So they are all booked up too.

Hodge, was this recently? I am wondering where you live (In the UK?) as nowhere near me (within 50 miles or so) has any appointments until next year! I would love to act quickly!

I am in Buckinghamshire. I went to the Chiltern hospital and saw the following dr who was brilliant: https://www.circlehealthgroup.co.uk/consultants/cristina-rodriguez-garcia

good luck with getting an appointment somewhere soon and hopefully not too far.

Thanks for your message earlier - I did actually try who you mentioned but they were also booked right up. I have managed to find an appointment early next week after a LOT of phoning around. I am actually exhausted with it all tbh!
