I'm in tenerife and my feet have swollen.
I'm normally a size 4 just had to go and get a pair of flip flops and only size 6 will fit.
Any advice on what I should do.

Is it water retention? Some people can get that after a flight.

SisterMichaelsHabit · 06/11/2023 20:56

Put your feet up to improve circulation?
If it's both feet it's unlikely to be a clot.
Who are you on hold to?

Desecratedcoconut · 06/11/2023 20:58

Nanatokidsdogshampsters · 06/11/2023 21:00

@Desecratedcoconut Ah I wasn't sure if she'd rang an OOH type number for help.

Lots of water and keep mobile

Put your feet up right now, higher than your heart. Going forward until you're completely better lie down and put your feet up for about an hour after each meal.

It happens to me on flights sometimes, and can take a few days to get over.

OrderOfTheKookaburra · 06/11/2023 22:17

On your return flight make sure you get up and walk around the cabin occasionally.

Or wear compression socks, although after trying them once I gave up on them because they are so bloody tight they are awful to wear.

Mischance · 06/11/2023 22:19

On the flight wiggle your toes all the time. I can remember being on a post-surgical ward and the sister would keep coming round and saying: "Wiggle your toes!" - to prevent clots and get the circulation going.

bellac11 · 06/11/2023 22:23

I thought you were on the phone to 111 about it!!

I used to get this on holiday, sometimes still do at random times or if I eat bread or something bready

Lots of water, feet up, lots of movement, round and round in circles with your ankles.

Jeannie88 · 06/11/2023 22:42

Oh no, sounds like me when I get off a plane, it goes after a while. Do you wear compression socks when on flight, would recommend as makes a difference. Meanwhile feet up, cold compresses, ice even, lots of fluids, keep moving your feet in different positions. No expert, just going from own experience. Xx
