Side effects of metronidazole

I'm on tablet 3 of this anti biotic and I have really bad dizziness and headache! Is this normal? Nhs website doesn't disclose these as side effects, anyone else had this? Really feel like I'm on a boat and head is throbbing 😩

I’m allergic to this antibiotic; it makes me immediately come out in a blotchy rash all over my body. So, not the same symptoms as you’re having but thought I’d mention anyway, sorry! It’s the only thing I’m allergic to that I know of.

I've been on that one a few times and don't remember reading that as a common symptom (my only symptom was thrush/bv, I always get messed up with those after ABs).

I would tell your doctor ASAP, they can get you on an alternative AB

I think I had that when I was on it. I mainly just stayed in bed and called in sick to work.

Even if it's a known symptom, still might be worth requesting switching to a different AB. I'm not a doctor but vaguely recall that metronidazole is a broad spectrum AB so lots of alternatives

What are you on it for, your symptoms might be caused by that?

They didn't know if I had an infection, tbh I don't even think I do. My back teeth were painful so I visited the dentist who said he doesn't know if it's an infection or just me grinding my teeth at night as my teeth aren't straight so even more likely to be thag but said to take anti biotics just incase. I have no other symptoms except pain in my back teeth, very tempted to stop tbh, I don't think I should have even started them

I can only tolerate this antibiotic if I take it after plenty of food. Otherwise I feel dreadful!

My goodness. I have been crying in pain with an obvious infection and my dentist refused to give me any antibiotics.
