Still in agony with invisible splinter under thumb nail (pic!)

I posted yesterday as this was really painful but I haven’t been able to get anything out nor can I see anything to come out! Also no memory of anything going in, just started hurting on Thursday

Anyway, it’s no better, it’s oozing a little clear yellowy liquid and the edge of the ‘site’ is a bit yellow when I’ve looked under the magnifier on my phone. I’ve tried mag sulfate paste, soaking in salt water but nothing happening.

Im pretty sure there’s a low level infection as it’s warm and a bit throbbing so it’s looking like I’ll have to get it looked at. Question is, if I can’t see anything, what can anyone do to remove it? Annoyingly it’s just on the edge of where the nail bed is attached…

I suck hard on my skin to get a splinter out if I can see it. It does work but I'm not sure if it's oozing I would try. Splinters can be so painful as well, poor you.

Yeah I would do the same but just can’t see anything- so frustrating and I really don’t want to go the GP for this but equally can’t stand not being able to touch it without jumping in the air!!

I would soak it frequently in hot, salt water. Then cover in magnesium sulphate paste and bandage it overnight. Like a poultice. Old fashioned, but it might draw it out a bit so you can identify what it is. You can buy Mag sulph paste over the counter at a pharmacy.

Thanks @endofthelinefinally I've been using the mag sulfate paste the last couple of days but have been leaving uncovered overnight so will try leaving it on tonight

When I had something stuck under my toenail (yuck) a chiropodist told me to soak in salt water twice a day but to put lots of salt in. He said 'when you think you've put enough in, put in some more'. It was the only thing that worked. Hopefully it will draw it out.

Just to update, I ended up going to GP after about a week and was given antibiotics just in case. This seemed to do the trick and it’s absolutely fine now! Still none the wiser as to what it was but must have been infected!
