Heart racing and light headed, very sleep deprived! Is this normal?

Basically what the title says, I have 2 DDs 3yo and 7.5mo. Baby is teething and full of cold so waking up a lot, my 3yo never sleeps through but is waking more at the moment due to very itchy eczema we’re trying to treat plus she’s sometimes disturbed by a crying baby. I’m insanely sleep deprived, this week has been bad as my baby normally sleeps well but isn’t right now so I’m getting the double whammy. For example last night my baby didn’t fully settle until 10.30 (3yo was asleep for 7), baby woke at 2am for an hour, 3yo then woke up and they both needed cuddles/feeding, then baby fell asleep, 3yo needed more cuddles then when she fell asleep baby was awake again and then once both were back to sleep and I could try sleep again it was 5am then 3yo was up at 6. This has been a regular pattern this last week. DH works so can’t be much help. I bedshare with both to try and get as much sleep as possible.

Anyway, my main question is is this normal to have a racing heart and dizziness (115bpm heart rate) basically all day? I’m a healthy 29 year old with no other health issues I’m just so tired. I don’t want to bother the doctor if it’s nothing but it’s not the best way to be looking after 2 kids by myself! TIA 🙏🏼

It sounds like your under a lot of stress!

It's not unusual, when you're lacking in sleep, to feel rather off-kilter!
It's also not unusual to have a raised heart rate when you've a cold or similar.

However; Give 111 a call. They will be able to advise the best cause of action, hopefully better than an internet poster!

Good luck with it all though. Hope you feel better!

Are you low in iron? That causes racing heart and dizziness. Sleep deprivation is torture and makes you feel like shit but you might have a virus or be a bit anaemic.

It could be sleep related but might be worth contacting GP. Maybe your DH can have your 3 year old in with him? Sharing with both does not sound sustainable for your sanity!!

Yeah I might need to try that if this carries on, 3yo normally wants me and on the nights we’ve tried DH with her it’s not ended well hence why I just have them both. Thanks guys though, I’ll stop worrying about it and t try take it easy and get some more sleep. DH has an extra day off tomorrow so has said he will take baby out for a walk (3yo is at nursery) so I can sleep!
