Why does my baby have a smelly head?!

My LB (8 weeks) has a stinky head (I don't mind the smell but it is noticeable!), what could it be! He doesn't have cradle cap or dry/ flakey skin at all but google seems to think cradle cap is the only thing that can cause a smelly head sigh

My partner describes the smell as 'sweaty socks' but I think it's a bit of a vinegary smell, it only smells on the crown of his head not around the sides or at the front. We bath him with a hair wash every other day and I wash his neck folds etc every day so I don't think it can be milk residue (plus it's only on the very top of his head that it smells). Baby boy hasn't always had a stinky head, it's only in the last 2 weeks or so that I've noticed it!

What could it be?! Any suggestions, it's driving me nuts that I can figure out what's causing it😂

Did you work out what the smell was? My 10 week old baby has had a similar smell for the last couple of weeks. She had a bit of flakey skin for a while but that's almost gone now and the smell is still there. Just on the top of her head, like your baby xx

@MamadeM hi, did you manage to resolve this? I have the same issue - just one section of baby’s head

@KG1244 yes, it was cradle cup! A few days later something similar to fish scales started showing up as well. I bought some shampoo and oil (linked below) and after a few weeks the smell fully disappeared as well as the scales.
It did get worse before getting better though, so don't panic if at the beginning it seems like it's not working ☺️
