DD1 (4) not eating, sleeping a lot, do i need to see the doctor?

DD1 hasn't really eaten much this week (but she can be picky about food from time to time). She is also sleeping very well at night (12 hours, unusual for her) and a couple of days this week she has disappeared off to bed for a few hours in the afternoon.
She looks pale and is being a bit lethargic, though at other times seems fine and playing happily.

I was ignoring the not eating (I try not to make a fuss about food) but she also hasn't eaten much of her favourite foods without a good deal of cajoling. Today at my mum's she also just picked at some chocolate birthday cake (unheard of).

DH thinks i should take her to the doctors tomorrow. Is there any point?

Hmm don't know. Have you looked at her throat? Sometimes they go off their food when they have a bad throat (and it's not something that's obvious iyswim).

what am i looking for? red?

yes or pus (yellow/white) around tonsils (I only know what I'm looking for because one of mine went through a stage of getting tonsilitis all the time!).

If you are worried though, take her in. I don't know what I'd do. I'd probably wait a little bit longer.

thanks - she is out with dh so will take a look when they're back.

she doesn't have a temperature, though when i picked her up from nursery on friday she looked ill - in her eyes, iykwim.

I think it's enough to be keeping you worried so take her in! They won't mind if it's nothing and there are all sorts of odd things (like throats and UTIs) that can make them feel odd that we can't spot iyswim.
