What is this child’s neck injury?

Yesterday my son jumped awkwardly off his climbing frame and sort of fell through my husband’s arms. My husband heard something tear and our son complained that he’d hurt his neck, although nothing that stopped him running straight off to play more. He’s not mentioned it at all today and he’s had no problem with neck movement but in the bath I noticed these blood blister type marks under the skin on both sides of his neck. What could it be?

Did his top tear? It could be some kind of abrasion from his clothes?

LIZS · 23/10/2023 20:46

Friction burn, if his clothing got pulled tight as he fell.

Agree with friction from clothing.

PSL1990 · 23/10/2023 20:55

It’s completely under the skin and you can’t feel anything on the surface. Wouldn’t you feel something if it was a friction burn.

No torn clothing. That’s what he initially thought he’d heard.

If they don't go place under a glass it's likely they are petechiae (small bruises under the skin as a result of tiny broken blood vessels). They're harmless and will go quickly.

Hi did you find out what this was ?? My son ad got some tiny ones on the back of his kneck .. he’s had them before on his arm too and was told it was trauma 🤷‍♀️ he is a 3 year old and jumps all over the place 😂 but I’m just a little concerned they don’t move when pressed on x
