Can a poke in the eye really do much damage?!

Yesterday dd accidentally poked my eye with some card she was drawing on and more than a day later I still can't see properly. The vision in that eye is so blurred that if I shut the good one I can't read anything! I don't have an optician but would an eye test do or would I have to see a doctor to establish if there is a problem? The eyelid feels incredibly tender to the touch still.

My DS poked me in the eye and I was in agony, I went to the emergency eye clinic and they said that I had a scratched cornea, it was tender and red for a few days but righted itself after that.

I would go to see a doctor.

YOu don't want to mess with your eyesight..that sounds serious and you should definitely get examined ASAP IMO.

I poked my dad in the eye once - had scratched the surface and he needed to wear a patch

Get checked ... better to be safe than sorry and all that

My cousin was scratched on the eye by family pet as a four year old, he is 26 yrs old now and has been blind in one eye ever since.

Get it checked! This happened to me as a child and I had to visit the hospital every day for the doctor to check my eye and read an eye chart until it had healed - it did but at least if it had been anything more serious it would have been picked up quickly. Chances are it will turn out to be fine but always better to check.
