Bleeding piles 🙈 oh the pain …after advice

Right so I had piles before but not like this . Started in pregnancy years ago .

anyway I got a grape size one , thrombosed, out. Excruciating. Doesn’t help I’m on my feet all day at work . Anyway I rang in sick for the week because there is no way I can stand . Can just lying on my side at present .

been to the GP this am , gave a cream with anaesthetic and some cortison as I’m very inflamed . She says the dark areas are the clots.

so went home, had a bout of diarrhoea which I think it’s partially what triggered them too . my daughter had a bug …
basically the small dark bit broke and bled. I’m no surprised as it was sooo swollen . In a way I thought it was a good thing as it would relieve a bit of the pressure, but it’s not scabbing over and sort keep weeping a bit of blood .
is this ok? Normal?
Like I really don’t want to go to hospital as I work there and unless it’s a major haemorrhage they will sit me in a chair for 20 odd hours ..which I can’t do . Guess I could ring the GP back on Monday if still the same .
has anybody experienced something similar .

I think there basically a small hole and all the engulfed blood seeps through .
what an absolute pain !

I have been there and feel your pain! All sounds pretty normal, as you say the diahorrea has caused the thrombosed pile to open up and bleed. Keep applying your anaesthetic cream and wear a pad if you continue to bleed a bit. What you're aiming for is for the pile to reduce so you can push it back inside if possible. Some ice (suitably wrapped) and held against it can help, and keeping your legs up whenever possible. Hopefully it will soon start to reduce.

Oh dear I'm sorry that sounds so painful. Mine are small but still affecting my well being.

A friend of mine got his surgically removed - I think maybe cauterised. Can you ask your gp if this is an option?

Orchid90 · 20/10/2023 16:24

unless you had them you really can’t believe how debilitating they are . Agony . I’m lying down. I feel like I have 3 areas of clots inside the big grape hanging out .one it’s the semi burst that seeps ..the other two a blue painful lumps. Ouch 😩 This is the absolute worse they have ever been. I have been fine for 5-6 years ! Totally took me by surprise. Before that I had an anal fissure on the other side which is a good match in terms of pain . The only time I feel better is in the bath . Feel like the warm water helps the most . I’m off work , looking forward to a lovely weekend!

I have a grape sized one, it's lived there for about 15 years. A bout of diarrhoea or heavy lifting will aggravate it. It will go dark purple, swollen and quite often bleed.

I find a regular finger up the bum to keep it pushed in, anti inflammatories and Anusol does the trick.

It always looks like far more blood than actually is

Orchid90 · 20/10/2023 16:32

Well they haven’t bothered me for over 6 years ..I don’t know why they have become soo bad all of a sudden . Think it’s been a combo of constipation/ iron tablets/ diarrhoea..but if they don’t subside or keeps happening yes I’ll need to do something about it . Soooooo painful

Pure coconut oil works for me from the cooking section in supermarket. It takes the pain out and doesn't sting me like anusol or germoloids

bellac11 · 20/10/2023 16:47

Take laxatives so there is no pressure from the bowel movement
Keep applying the steroid cream, you should have been given scherproct (cant spell that) gell
Keep using the anaesthetic gell, I had it in syringes that you put on a bit of guaze and keep it on your bum, but not too much guaze because the pressure of it pressing on the pile is painful
I found sitting on a hot water bottle really helped but then Ive read bad things about that so not sure about that one

Orchid90 · 20/10/2023 18:01

@bellac11 yes that’s the cream I have . I find heat better than ice too. Off for another bath soon 🙈🙈

OP, it's hell isn't it but yes, kept taking lots of warm baths and maybe consider a sitz bath for after you've been to the loo. I do hope it starts to shrink soon and you feel some relief.

Hi !

Thsnk everyone, I just wanted to update on later developments and also see what you think .

so I went back to the GP, she didn’t look again, just referred me to a hot clinic where the doc says it can take up to 8 weeks to resolve 😵‍💫
anyway since it bursted there was some bleeding and fir that he says I’ll need a sigmoidoscopy ( camera test) as routine check.
anyway, they rang me to go on Thursday and I basically Ashe if I could have it done a bit later on as obviously it is still quite sore and at the moment having an enema and a camera shove up isn’t really ideal to me . Felt really bad, the lady was rude and said the referral it’s obviously a 2 weeks one and just said PR bleed . No mention of my thrombosed pile .
I hope they change the referral to a 8 week one , but I got a feeling she’ll just wrote refuse on it 😭 I told her I wanted to have it just not so early .
shall I go back to GP if I don’t hear back ? Ring endoscopy in a couple of days ?

feel really bad now .

I have a pile I think. I am in so much pain. I have a pile I think its an internal one. It's the size of a grape and not bleeding but it's kinda hanging out. It hurts so much.. I've got to sit at work but don't think i can as it hurts so much. I haven't been exercising all weekend. Just laying on my side. I feel horrible, dirty, lazy and horrible for not exercising. I don't know what to do. Pile cream is useless. I had an access years ago and had to have it packed every day but this is worse.
