DS who is 21 months started scratching like a demon yesterday afternoon and has developed a v 'fine' rash - it's so small that it just looks like his skin is pink, but its spreading - started yesterday on shoulders and neck and is now to tops of thighs. Piriton seems to be helping with the itching

He does currently have runny nose (thick green snot -nice), temperature and cough which the GP says is viral not bacterial. rash doesn't look viral - it's not purple or blotchy.

He hasn't eaten anything out of hte ordinary, we haven't changed washing powders or used any different creams or lotions.

he does have v v mild eczema which is usually completely under control through epaderm.

does anyone know what this might be and any ideas? why does he always fall ill at a weekend?????

We've got a similar rash at the mo. Had a viral type rash for a few days now tiny tiny pink spots which has spread (but also cleared a bit from original areas) DD very unhappy. Wondered if it was something to do with her MMR but that was over 3 weeks ago.
I'll keep an eye on your thread

ginger - are you in leeds? We are - perhaps its a local thing doing the rounds?

DS had his MMR many months ago and no vaccinations recently so I don't think that's it for us!

No we're in Essex. We've just noticed [duh emoticon] that DH and I both have rashes too. We've both felt pretty grotty with really really achy eyes so no idea, probably isn't related to MMR at all and is another mysterious illness. Hope you're all better soon too.

ah, must be another ginger in Leeds

sorry to hear you and your dh have been feeling rubbish too. have rung nhs direct and their best guess is some mystery virus so just seeing how it goes and will go back to the gp tomorrow if no better.
