Tinnitus- when to see a doctor?

I've recently developed tinnitus in one ear, no dizziness, but maybe a little deaf.
I can zone out from it, and I usually keep the radio on in the background if possible as a distaction, but it doesn't always help.

Is there any point in seeing the GP?

I had this (still have) and they sent me for an MRI. It found nothing sinister, only an unrelated benign cyst on my pituitary gland which needs annual screening.
Twelve months on I still have the tinnitus. One audiologist said due to mild hearing loss, the other said hearing is absolutely fine. Not anaemic. It's been pulsing away for 15 months now. I use white noise to help me sleep. Does my head in.

Thanks for the reply, I'll try to get an appointment.
I played some white noise earlier and that did help, so thanks for the tip.
