Sweaty vagina smell ๐Ÿ™ˆ

Kat19899 · 22/09/2023 21:10

A bit embarrassing but I have just started suffering with a sweaty vagina smell and Iโ€™m confused about what it could be.

I donโ€™t have any pain or soreness, my discharge is liquid, thick and a tiny bit yellow (pretty normal for me). It doesnโ€™t smell fishy or rotten, just very strong sweaty all the time.
After a bad yeast infection a few weeks ago I started using the Canesten Canesflor probiotics and I wonder if it could be that? But the smell only started a couple of days ago ๐Ÿค”. If youโ€™ve had this before what did it turn out to be?

Could it be BV?

MaggieBsBoat · 22/09/2023 21:12

Yup sounds like BV to me. Get thee to the GP! Or even a pharmacist could write a prescription for this.

Kat19899 · 22/09/2023 21:12

Just to add, I will call my GP next week but appointments are like gold dust, usually urgent problems only! So Iโ€™m wondering whether itโ€™s worth trying something like Balance Activ in the meantime

Oh really?? I didnโ€™t know pharmacists write prescriptions! Itโ€™s so hard to get a GP appointment, that would be much easier

Some GPโ€™s will let you get a swab and do your own HVS at home ask it may speed things up.

anyadvicefor · 22/09/2023 21:21

I thought bv had a fishy smell ?

Menopausalandtetchy · 22/09/2023 21:21

I think you can buy treatment for BV over the counter! Hope itโ€™s sorted soon

Kat19899 · 22/09/2023 21:34

Thank you all ๐Ÿ™Œ. Do you think it sounds more like BV than Trichomoniasis? If so Iโ€™ll go to the pharmacy and maybe not bother with my GP

Also, I guess my review for Canesflor is zero stars ๐Ÿ˜…

You can buy a test for BV vs Thrush over the counter, and also buy treatment pessaries for BV, can get all this from amazon too with quick delivery. You can also get a home test for Trichomoniasis from Home Health. So you can initially do these things without having to fight for a GP appointment.

Pudmyboy · 22/09/2023 22:28

If you want to be tested for trichomonas you will need to go to a GUM clinic; they can probably help identify the discharge/smell too

daisiesyellow · 22/09/2023 22:32

If you've got a sexual health clinic they might be able to help?
I went to them once for recurrent BV because I couldn't get a GP appt and they had me in, tested me, told me it was BV and gave me antibiotics to take home and loads of helpful advice!

Is it your actual vagina or the creases in between your legs? If they're a bit red or smelly it could be a fungal infection of the skin.

MachinesOfGod · 23/09/2023 17:37

Are you wearing cotton underwear?

If you're wearing lacy/synthetic material knickers then it could just be a sweaty vag/groin area that isn't getting enough airflow.

Definitely vagina, no scent or soreness anywhere else

I usually wear cotton but since noticing the problem I switched to synthetic as they are much thinner which I thought would improve airflow. Switched back now as maybe that made it worse!

@Kat19899 did you get to the bottom of this? I stated with this a month or so ago out of the blue. The only thing I can think of is some kind of perimenopause symptom I'm I'm 41 and have also started sweating in the night which I've read is common.

dothehokeycokey · 14/10/2023 19:23

@Kat19899

I don't know how old you are but I'm early forties and have this issue at times.

I find it worse when I'm wearing synthetic knickers which is annoying because I find them thinner and seam free and don't seem to be able to find cotton ones like that.

I'm also noticing it change at certain times of the month like ovulation time but my body odour changes aswell so I think it's def a mixture.

Ollifer · 14/10/2023 19:27

BV doesn't smell like sweat, it sounds like you're just sweating down there
