Wearing a boot for foot injury

I've been diagnosed with a stress fracture of the fourth metatarsal head and given a long boot.

It's awful!

My foot, which wasn't too sore to begin with, now feels worse after a few hours in the boot. My hips are buggered despite having an even up shoe.

My main concern is the foot. Could I be making it worse in other areas of the foot by wearing the boot? Can I just crawl around the house instead for the next few weeks?!

My ds has occasionally needed a boot for a few weeks at a time (occupational hazard!) and it takes a little getting used to but it does get easier. If you don’t wear it then you will potentially do more damage, even if you think you’re being really careful it’s easy to just put your foot down to walk on without thinking about it.
