TMI: blood clots in wee?!

I'm waiting for a call back from a 111 GP, I'm not looking for medical advice so much as reassurance (I'm fairly certain it's a run of the mill UTI). I've had water infections before and seen a bit of blood mixed in with the wee but I've never known actual blood clots from a UTI before. It came on very suddenly, I started having some cramps around 3pm on the school run and within 2 hours of that I noticed a few small clots and they seem to be getting bigger 😳(sorry TMI). I am in so much pain and feel generally unwell now, I'm hoping the OOH doesn't take too long but I'm expecting a very long wait really. I've been told not to take ibuprofen (not sure why) and I don't have anything else in the house, the children are asleep so I can't go and get any either.

I don't have anything particularly helpful to add OP, just to say I can see why you're worried - I think I would be too. I hope 111 calls back soon!

That must be really worrying. I would get everything prepared in case you need to go to hospital. Make sure phone is charged etc. Can you contact family to let them know what's happening?

Just had this myself.. started with cystitis.. ( UTI) blood in urine.. then clots.. Two nights ago l felt like l had labour pains ( I'm 64 lol) but l passed a kidney stone.. at home. ( size of a grain of rice) .. what a relief.. on antibiotics now. I've a stone before and same thing blood clots in urine.. but that was bigger and l had pyelonephritis ( Kidney infection) was in hospital where they " zapped the stone and l was on antibiotics IV.
Hope you're okay and doesn't get too painful. X

I've had the callback now, no hospital needed thankfully unless I get worse then I will have to go, I can collect the antibiotics in the morning though so hopefully I will be ok tonight with painkillers and a hot water bottle and she said I can take ibuprofen now. They prescribed them over the phone luckily.

P.S l had a high temp .. feeling dizzy and vomiting since Sunday then this started Tuesday..

Still in a lot of pain today, but I'm trying to drink a lot to flush it out
