My toenails are infuriating. The big toe nails fell off and are growing into the nail bed and getting sore . When I’ve had a good soak I dig them out and there are little shards growing up. Ouch!
I am having a low energy day today. Nine days of pills left and counting….

Silkiebunny · 16/10/2023 13:58

I've got Aveeno so have just added some of that, thanks for the tip. My nails all survived the years treatment fine and strong as ever, only thing I did was put ice on them during chemo. But now for some random reason one big toe nail got a crack across with a black line in then a second crack across and other toe nail has like a big grey colour underneath, rest are fine. I do actually remember hitting one swimming I think so its probably that. Just always get slightly paranoid now anything weird appears though my toes never see the sun so can't see how it could be melanoma. DH reckons it definitely a bruise. DH has no medical qualifications but is a self appointed expert in anything medical and being male anything he doesn't know he makes up and just says it confidently.

Love those NT steps Tillly

Ikeameatballlunch · 16/10/2023 14:12

Good points @SummerCycling and excellent that you were given t3.

I know a Gp once said "we (gps) aren't that great at thyroid stuff" and another friend who is a Gp recently said "managing thyroid is an art not a science!"

Ikeameatballlunch · 16/10/2023 14:14

Loooove those eyebrows Lucy!

I'm feeling a bit brighter today. Yesterday was not a particularly good day. I definitely over did it on Saturday and I'm getting anxious about radiotherapy.

The national trust is trying to kill me

Is that cragside by any chance?

nappybrained · 16/10/2023 15:11

@lucysmam loving the eyebrows. Very impressive.runs off to look them up!!

Tilllly · 16/10/2023 17:42

@lucysmam woohoo for those eyebrows, they look amazing, am well impressed

@Ikeameatballlunch it is!!! That's an incredible spot just from those bloody steps!

Nearly home now and my challenge will be keeping up the exercise levels

Tilllly · 16/10/2023 17:43

Octopus45 · 15/10/2023 21:39

@Tilly I'm aiming for something over 10,000. I normally manage about that many, but haven't done as well over the last week.

How've you done today?

Octopus45 · 16/10/2023 18:59

@Tilly I've done over 9,000 and I'm off for a dog walk in a bit.

Ikeameatballlunch · 16/10/2023 19:24

Aha! I know it well! Hope you had a lovely time and managed to get some cake 😋

SummerCycling · 16/10/2023 19:42

@Tilllly and @Ikeameatballlunch

I've looked up Cragside and it looks amazing, so beautiful. Lucky you living near there. There are beautiful coastlines there too, aren't there? Not crowded, but peaceful.

@Ikeameatballlunch how many days of radio are you getting? I was a bit anxious beforehand too, but it was actually totally fine. Lie on a comfy bed, hold your breath a few times when they say, listen to the music they put on, get up, go home! I did for 15 days but could easily have done more, it wasn't stressful and the ladies on the radio team were so sweet. I hope it goes well for you too.

@Silkiebunny I hope the blue Aveeno helps your nails. I find it lovely on my skin; I don't get any flaking or dry skin any more.

SummerCycling · 16/10/2023 20:19

@TopOfTheCliff 9 more days, you're so nearly there, thank goodness! So Tue 24 Oct is the final day of Cape? We should celebrate on the thread.

lucysmam · 16/10/2023 20:42

@TopOfTheCliff that sounds really uncomfy! 9 days...the final count down!

@Ikeameatballlunch I hope radiotherapy goes smoothly for you.

I've got O'Keefes Working Hands, some Moo Goo, or Cera Ve, to hand at the mo. I don't really suppose it matters which I use? There's probably a bottle of Cetraben or similar about too actually, although that's super greasy so probably best for bed time 🤔

The girls are finding it highly amusing being needed to open packets for me - it feels weird trying to do it with not-properly-attached nails.

Breast cancer stage 2, 14 years ago.
Surgery, chemo, reconstructive surgery. NED all this time.

Now, what was initially diagnosed as a tiny fibroid last September, appears to be a 9 cm malignant growth outside my womb.

Had CT today: lungs, chest and abdomen. Fluid on my lungs.

MDT on Friday.

I'm terrified. The waiting is horrific.
I'm scared it's secondary BC.

👏🏻 well done 👍

Tilllly · 16/10/2023 21:41

@SummerCycling I don't, just visiting for a few days

@Sortmylifeout52 🫂 of course. It's crappy to be here but good too

The waiting is the worst, once you know what you're facing, you can deal with it

Octopus45 · 16/10/2023 21:41

Following on from my dog walk, the count was 12,670

Dammit, beat me by 500

dotty2 · 16/10/2023 21:53

@Sortmylifeout52 i'm sorry you find yourself here. That's a lot to take in - sending strength for the waiting.

@lucysmam - fabulous eyebrow. My nails seem to have pretty much stopped growing on abemaciclib , and I think it does/can affect them, so it may well be related.

TopOfTheCliff · 16/10/2023 22:04

@lucysmam I have been having treatment for so long I won't believe it's finished. Something is bound to happen and they will say I "just" need another thing. But we can have a virtual tea party anyway!

@Sortmylifeout52 sorry you need to join us and let's hope your stay is short and there is an innocent explanation for the findings. Waiting is awful! I found the Calm app helped a bt. Sending strength and calm xx

Were you told the results of your ct the same day you had it?

lucysmam · 17/10/2023 07:13

@dotty2 I had forgotten you'd mentioned your nails had stopped growing, when I asked about them! Maybe it is the Abemciclib then. Another one's started coming loose overnight 🙄

Weirdly, it's only up to the newest growth at the mo, it's all the chemo-discoloured bits that seem to be unsticking. I'm going to be so handy to have around at work, leaving a trail of fingernails & not able to open things easily 🙈🤣

Sortmylifeout52 · 17/10/2023 07:30

@tothelefttotheleft no I wasn't told the results. I have to wait for gynae to contact me now. They couldn't get the canula in to do the contrast dye thing, so it may have to be repeated they said.

EachandEveryone · 17/10/2023 07:57

Ive been up all night I dont know whats going on. The weird thing is the last couple of days Ive felt so much better in myself. Ive lost abit of weight, the night sweats have stopped and I have more energy. That lump is definitely going down. They said radio takes weeks to show any results. I dont know what the next step for me is. Theres so much waiting around. I will have to think about going back to work soon. Money stops in December!
