What’s could be causing this pain in my shoulder blade?

First of all, I know strangers on the Internet cannot diagnose me, or replace medical advice. I’m just looking for some ideas or similar experiences.

I was out at the shops this afternoon and got a sudden sharp pain / ache under my left shoulder blade and that area. I hadn’t moved suddenly and was just walking along, pain was really uncomfortable, but not enough to take my breath away or to stop me doing what I was doing. I didn’t feel shaky, dizzy, sweaty, nauseous, etc. Pain didn’t radiate up to my shoulder or jaw. It lasted about 30 to 40 minutes and then dissipated.

For the next couple of hours, I felt completely normal and then back home it suddenly started again, exactly the same. The pain didn’t get worse or better with movement or change of position like you might expect with an injury. Again, it only lasted about 30 minutes before going away. I have an oximeter at home and my oxygen levels were fine and my heart rate was a little raised (anxious) but seemed to be strong and regular.

In case you can’t tell I have A LOT of health anxiety around my heart due to some family history. But because of the lack of other heart type symptoms don’t think it’s my heart.

Anyone had anything similar or have any ideas?

Gallstones?

Oooh, that’s something I hadn’t considered! It can cause shoulder pain? I do eat a lot of fibrous things and can be very farty 😷

Gallstones?

Did consider, and look up, gallstones and pain does pretty much always seem to start in the abdomen which I haven’t had any issues with. And weirdly if it does go to the shoulder more commonly the right not left (so says dr google)

Your gallbladder is tucked under your right ribcage and pain can radiate into your shoulder and back from there (I know I'm getting an attack because I get a tightening around my bra strap then it goes up into my shoulder and jaw. The tightening with me can radiate all the way round the back as far as the left hand side, but the pain concentration is on the right.

Trapped wind can be horrifically painful. I get that as well sometimes. More central front though (where your actual stomach is)

I immediately thought gallstones too!

Any chance that you could be pregnant?

I always got gallbladder pain left back and shoulder, until I had it removed. Still get pain in that area if eat too much fat. Obviously get it checked out, I just wanted to share my experience.

Sharp pain in the shoulder area can be a symptom of an ectopic pregnancy.

Now going down a gall stone / trapped wind rabbit hole on google!

Thanks ladies 😁

Nah, in my early fifties and post menopausal

@JamNittyGritty that's good - I was thinking the same as a previous poster, that it can be the sign of an ep topic pregnancy.
