Further problems after abnormal smear.

About 18 months ago I had an abnormal smear result CIN3, I went in to have the colposcopy, problems during the procedure and it lasted over an hour. 10 days after the prodecure I was rushed to hospital as was hemorraging (sp), a few months later had to have further colposcopy as bleeding every 3 days for 4 days, Finally went in dec 03 for a D/C and for the majority of the year all has been ok.

I have always had irregular periods, and not had a proper one since July (no chance of pg), a month ago I "came on" for about 10 mins (it was a few spots (brown blood....sorry) and then again this month the same. I also bleed mildly after sex no and again, these are the same symptoms that made me go to the doctor in the first place. I am just worried about booking an appointment and having to go through it all again.

I had my annual yearly smear appointment request through and I am too scared to phone for an appointment

has anyone else gone through further problems after a smear?

Regarding the mole,

It was about 1 cm square.

TBH it did not hurt at all, I did not look as I hate needles, I had an injestion into it (the worst part, you know the drill sharp scratch) and then 20 seconds later out popped the scissors and off it came. I really was in there 2 mins, and totally worth it. Go on be brave and contact the doctors.

My friend had moles removed from her neck and they were about the size of a thumb nail, she is the biggest baby ever, and she was ok.

It gets better, went into today for my smear (delighted that for once I had stopped bleeding) only to be told that it can not be taken today as my cervix needs 8 weeks to heel from the last one taken

I am so annoyed that I got a letter telling me to phone and make another appointment and was not told this at the time.

To make matters worse DS was ill today and unable to go to school, so I had to arrange someone to look after him while I was out.

So I have to wait a month before I can have it done and then upto 6/8 weeks for the results.

breeze, this is unbelievable. Why couldn't they have said in the letter that you'd have to wait at least 8 weeks. The whole smear thing is bad enough especially when you've had problems in the past without all this. I don't know about you but I really have to gear myself up mentally for my smear appointment and you just want to get it over and done with. Hopefully after everything that's happened you will get a clear result and can then put the whole thing behind you for another year. Hope your ds feels better soon too xx

Thanks bonniej,

Oh yes I have to gear myself up for one as well. I loathe them and no matter how much she tells me to relax, I find myself relaxing except for THAT part.

Still only another month or so to wait, but this is the longest that I have been without bleeding for a month, so fingers crossed.

Started bleeding again today so went to the doctors for some norethisterone to help stop the bleeding.

Then this afternoon I feel a lot of discomfort down there (the only way I can describe it is when you have a tampon in and its not in correctly and you can feel it) of course I dont have one in. So I am back to the doctors at 5.20 to see her again. I am not sure what she can do, but something needs to be done as I had my first panic attack for a very long time today. Totally my own fault as thinking the very worst

Update.

Went today for smear, nurse had a lot of difficulty locating cervix and when she did try it hurt a lot and she ended up with a very small sample which she feels probably wont be enough anyway. I have finally been referred to hospital and have my appointment on 30th March. I am siting here now angry at myself for not insisting that she try to get some more sample. I bled afterwards and it was painful, but surely I could of just put up with it for another min or 2

sorry to hear that Breeze. It may have been enough sample, but if not at least you have finally been reffered to the hospital.

Breeze -

That's awful!!!

Must get my MSN working again at home. How are you apart from that?

lol Breeze! Yeah I'm at work and IT have cocked up so I can't access any of my files...... luckily enough I can still get the internet!

Fine here too, having a bit of bother with DH though. Got a marriage counselling appointment on March 1st. Hopefully that'll help us communicate better and I can stop using the cattle prod!

breeze · 22/02/2005 12:15

Sorry to hear that, hope all goes ok.

As soon as they realise to do what there told the better.
