Diabetes test Glucose of 6.8

I've had a blood test back with a glucose level of 6.8 from a test taken along with loads of others at about 9am in the morning - I had breakfast about 15-25 min before the test. I wasn't told to fast it was just a normal full blood count test just to check for diabetes/cholesterol/iron etc

The doctor has called me back for a routine appointment.

Are there any people knowledgeable about these things that can help explain? Is 6.8 high?

That's usually nothing to worry about.

If you'd only just had breakfast there's a decent chance that's the reason your blood sugar was slightly raised.

They'll probably want to do a fasting test to make sure.

Here is a link to usual blood sugar levels - according to this a blood sugar of up to 7.8 at least 90 minutes after food can still be considered normal.

It's a bit high yes, talk to the doctor to repeat the test or do other tests. Ask if you need to have had nothing or if you need to eat two hours before.

If you do turn out to have diabetes, it's fine. You'll be fine.

Definitely within normal parameters.

Thank you for the replies. Glad to hear its nothing to worry about but I still feel a bit worried just in case it is something to worry about . I think they may want to repeat. I was also thinking it's because I just had breakfast.
