Is there any likelihood of rats having been in/around the drain? Because if so, you might have been exposed to Weils' disease, which they carry. If you still feel ill tomorrow, better contact your GP.

Probably not unless you were drinking it?

I dealt with a one week baking in the sun large 5kg fish cadavre a few years ago...
Did get really ill after, I asked the doctor if it could have been from that, but no. (Turned out to be meningitis, though...)

Too soon for Weil's disease I think. Probably some other bug or just a coincidence. dh was once really unwell after knocking off some plaster in a very old house though.

Hope you feel better soon.

Much more likely you are coming down with the flu - sorry. Waterbourne infections have a longer incubation period generally at least 72 hours. This is because they have to reach your liver and multiply before they start to affect your immune system. Unless it's just the shits in which case you'd have explosive diarrhea by now (yeah, cheering I know ).

Weil's disease is the one that srpings to mind but the incubation is longer (3 days or more). Would agree to get checked if you still feel rotten tomorrow. Weil's disease gives you headache, joint/muscle pains and a rash.

thanks all...i'm kind of reassured that the timing suggests its not drain-related. i was feeling so smug for having cleaned it out as well....after a few weeks of stinky stinky in the garden the kitchen sink is now draining freely again hurrah.
