My dad is 58 ( i think) and when i rang him earlier he sounded very grotty and said he has had a headache for the past 4 hours. He said he fell asleep and when he woke he had an almighty nose bleed. He said the blood was just pouring out and he had to call my brother cos he couldn't move it was that heavy.

I think he said it bled for about 30 mins he thinks, and that he still has the headache now.

Has anyone else experianced this and know what might have caused it ??

Could be high blood pressure - I'd advise he gets some advice from nhsdirect.

bundleofyulelogs · 15/12/2004 16:44

you don't normally have any symptoms with high bp, so i'd get it checked out.

I said it could be his blood pressure and he said he had felt crap all day really.

He won't go to the docs or ring NHS direct.....he is a man after all

you could ring NHS Direct nutty?

Mum2girls · 15/12/2004 16:52

You could ring on his behalf....?

I think he should take this quite seriously as headaches and nose bleeds together don't sound good. Make him see a professional as soon as poss.
I hope I am not scaring you I am not a doctor

ChristmasCracker · 15/12/2004 16:54

I said i would but he moaned on and on and told me not to.

Thing is even if they ay to go to hosopital/doctors then he won't he is too stubborn.

Will ring him again in a bit and see how he is.

sounds to me like a high blood pressure problem .. that could be why the nose bleed

definitely ring nhs direct for him ..he should see someone in case its an ongoing problem rather than just a short term

(I had high bp in pregnancy and lost the sight in my right eye for around 8 months due to a hemmorhage .. you can get one in any spot of weakness)

Mum2girls · 15/12/2004 16:55

Dads are soooo obstinate - good luck {{{{}}}}}

ChristmasCracker · 15/12/2004 16:58

Goodness Twiglet, that must have been scary.

I am gonna ring and tell him i have spoken to NHS direct and that they recommend he at least gets an appointment at the docs for tommorow.
